Taiwan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong (Teavivre)

I recently received an order for Hui Kui with Teavivre and got this little free sample of Taiwan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong. Excited to get my Hui Kui but not ready to sit down and give it the attention it deserves, I decided to give this little guy a try. As with many samples, I didn’t have enough for anything but a very small tasting, but boy was I surprised. I’m still in the middle of building this website and with everything else going on I’m dog tired and got the water volume wrong. I should have used 110ml, but the flavor was still pronounced. I’m also late getting this review out as its now the 26th and Tea Gong-Go’s official launch was a week ago.

I especially loved the sweet grassy front notes and orchid finish. The texture was smooth and creamy and left my mouth watering.  Since I didn’t have enough to run it through a Gong-Go flash-infusion and got the water wrong, I’m putting this one on my re-order list to give it a full-blown Gong-Go Review at a later time. I think it could become a new favorite and would encourage anyone to give it a try. I was so impressed even though I’m tired and botched it up I’m still giving it 4 stars.

Sourced from the Shi Zhuo Tea Garden, this is a relatively new tea developed in the 1980’s. Grown in the Alishan region at an elevation of around 4000 feet, it is reported to be one of the highest grown oolongs and considered one of the prized teas of Taiwan.

On a side note, shipping from Teavivre is not a fast turn around. It took over two weeks and for me, that’s a bit long. I’m including some “alternative vendor” options at the bottom of this post.
